Privacy Policy

The NJ School Performance Dashboard (“the site”) presents public data from the New Jersey Department of Education. You can browse most everything on the site without an account. This policy explains what information we collect when you do use optional features — accounts, Premium, and support payments — and how it is handled.

Account information. If you create an account, we store your email address and a unique account ID. If you sign in with Google, they share your email address with us and we never see your password — authentication happens directly with them. If you create an account with an email and password instead, that password is stored in encrypted (hashed) form by our authentication provider, Supabase; we never see or store it in plain text and cannot recover it.

Saved preferences. Features you choose to save to your account — favorite schools, saved school lists, and saved chart configurations — are stored in our database, linked to your account, and visible only to you.

Payment information. All payments (Premium subscriptions and one-time contributions) are processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never touch this site or its database. We store only your subscription status, its renewal or expiry date, a record of one-time contributions and the Premium time they granted, and a Stripe customer reference.

Usage data. We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are visited and how features are used (for example, which schools are most frequently selected, in aggregate). Google Analytics sets cookies and collects standard usage data (pages viewed, approximate location, device type).

Local storage. The site stores some data only in your own browser, not on our servers: your current school selection, chart layout on the Multi-Chart Viewer, sign-in session tokens, a cached Premium-status hint, and small counters (such as free visits to the Correlation Explorer). Clearing your browser storage removes these.

This site uses Google AdSense to display ads. AdSense may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings and learn more at Google's advertising policies.

We use the information above to operate the site: signing you in, syncing your saved features across devices, granting and tracking Premium access, understanding aggregate site usage, and displaying ads. We do not sell your personal information.

The site relies on these processors, each governed by its own privacy policy:

• Supabase — authentication and database hosting
• Stripe — payment processing
• Google — sign-in (OAuth), Analytics, and AdSense
• Vercel — website hosting

Account data is kept while your account exists. To delete your account and all associated saved data, email us at [loading…] from the address on the account and we will remove it. Stripe retains payment records as required by financial regulations.

The site is a general-audience research tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

If this policy changes materially, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
